Transmission
Faecal-oral via contaminated water/food.
Clinical picture
Massive watery diarrhoea ("rice-water stools"), rapid dehydration. Fatal without therapy.
Vaccine protection
Oral inactivated vaccine (Dukoral), 2 doses.
Who should be vaccinated?
Narrowly defined travel situations (camps, relief missions during outbreaks). Otherwise low travel indication.
Vaccination schedule (STIKO)
- 1. Dosis (oral)
- 2. Dosis (oral) — 1–6 Wochen nach 1. Dosis.
Booster: Alle 2 J. bei fortbestehender Exposition. Indikation: nur eng begrenzte Reise-Situationen (Camps, Flüchtlingshelfer).
