Clinical picture
Respiratory infection with fever, cough, loss of smell. Complications: severe pneumonia, long COVID. Risk factors: age, obesity, chronic conditions.
Vaccine protection
mRNA or protein-based vaccines, annually adapted to variants (analogous to flu).
Who should be vaccinated?
Annual booster for age 60+, patients at risk and healthcare workers. Pregnant women if at risk.
Vaccination schedule (STIKO)
- Grundimmunisierung (Variantenangepasst) — Aktuell empfohlen: 1 Dosis mit variantenangepasstem Impfstoff für gesunde Erwachsene.
Booster: Jährlich im Herbst für ab 60 J., Risikopatienten und Beschäftigte im Gesundheitswesen. Mindestens 12 Monate Abstand zur letzten Dosis/Infektion.
